Mock Band

Mock Band is a free browser backing band for instrument practice, with acoustic drum sounds, bass and rhythm-guitar accompaniment, editable scenes and ready-made metal setups.

Free

Overview

Mock Band generates backing accompaniment for instrument practice without an account or download. Recorded acoustic drums, bass and synthesized rhythm-guitar parts support riff practice, with an optional synth drum fallback when recordings are unavailable.

Ready-made galloping-metal, doom, death-metal and progressive-metal setups each contain four editable sections. Players explicitly load a setup and start playback, then switch sections at bar boundaries. Tempo, key, meter, swing and fills remain adjustable.

Visible controls, text commands and keyboard shortcuts work without a microphone; optional voice control depends on browser support and permissions. Ten local scene slots can save settings for later use, and scene settings can be imported and exported. This is not audio recording or MIDI-file export.

Mock Band is currently free, proprietary browser software. It creates practice accompaniment, not AI-generated songs, commercial recordings or note-for-note song transcriptions.
