Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and the third parties we rely on. Plain language, no dark patterns.
Who we are
Music Tools Index is a curated directory of software and online tools for music creators. This policy explains what personal data the site processes and the services we use to run it.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies — set by our authentication provider (Clerk) to keep you signed in to your account and the admin area. These are required for those features to work and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Our analytics run without cookies. If you are not signed in, the site does not store any cookies on your device.
Analytics
We look at anonymous, aggregate usage — page views and basic interactions — to see what people find useful. It is cookieless and not tied to your identity. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell your data.
Accounts
If you create an account, we store your email address so you can sign in and save tools. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address and topic preferences to send the digest. We use double opt-in, so you confirm before receiving anything, and every email has an unsubscribe link. You can update your preferences any time from the newsletter preferences page.
Tool submissions
When you submit a tool, we store the listing details and your contact email so we can review it and email you the decision. Approved listings are published to the directory.
Service providers
We rely on a few trusted providers to run the site — for hosting, sign-in, and sending newsletter emails. They only process data on our behalf, to deliver these features, and never for their own purposes.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account or newsletter data. Because our analytics are anonymous, there is no per-person profile to delete.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest revision.
